Protech Power specialise in project specific, custom designed transportable switchroom fit-outs which reflect the severity of the environment and the level of protection required for the installed equipment
The space savings due to new compact switchgear design have made it viable to construct complete substations off site rather than build a sub-station and assemble all equipment on-site at the physical location. This type of construction is called a transportable switchroom.
All components for the switchroom installation are provided (i.e. stairways, landings, handrails, kickplates and stumps). This greatly reduces on-site construction costs. Transportable switchrooms are designed and built to be functional, durable and low in maintenance. Special attention is given to the ease of installation after delivery to site and, in addition, the switchrooms are built to comply with the relevant building codes and standards.
The major advantages for this approach are that all electrical/mechanical equipment is factory fitted, connected and fully tested prior to despatch. Testing and commissioning of the complete substation at the suppliers production plant reduces site work and the use of expensive commissioning engineers. It also allows the installation of all interconnecting power and control cabling, pre commissioning and pre Site Acceptance Testing.(SAT) prior to despatch, saving time and money while improving quality.
Siemens Pty Ltd has contracted Protech Power to assemble into 10 switchrooms Siemens 22KV GIS and other components related to the Raglan to Blackwater Rail Electrification project. The project works include
Installation of all MV Switchgear, earthing, protection relays, switchboards and a number of other items
Installation of all power and control cabling
Factory Acceptance tests of all items on completion of assembly
Final testing on-site, for each building.
